42 incidents (page 1 of 3)
πΊπΈUnited States
Pilot experienced 50% collapse when unexpected gust front came through during descent. Successfully recovered using proper training. No injuries or damage. Dark cloudy conditions, calm winds initially then sudden gusts. Descent was low over trees in possible rotor zone.
π¬π§Lough Erne Resort, County Fermanagh, United Kingdom
Pilot lost control while flying extremely low and collided with the roof of a hotel at Lough Erne Resort, was transported to hospital
π²πΎMalaysia
During a demonstration flight in Malaysia, a paramotor pilot flying too low collided with a power line and crashed into a rice field. Water and mud cushioned the impact, resulting in only minor injuries.
πΊπΈMojave Desert, between 29 Palms and Fenner, United States
During a cross-country paramotor flight in the Mojave Desert, the fuel tank loosened and shifted backward into the spinning propeller. The propeller shredded the tank, causing fuel loss, then catastrophically exploded mid-flight. The pilot successfully performed an emergency landing without power on a desert road and was rescued hours later.
πΊπΈUnited States
Pilot experienced a violent asymmetric wing collapse in gusty conditions near sunset. Pilot admitted fault for not checking updated forecast before flight. Successfully recovered using weight shift and brake inputs, landed safely in nearby field.
π¬π§Little Grandston Airfield, United Kingdom
Pilot experienced a massive asymmetric wing collapse at low altitude while flying over trees in turbulent conditions after descending from cloud layer. Successfully recovered without injury.
πΊπΈPortsmouth, Ohio, United States
Experienced pilot performing wingover at low altitude lost grip of brake toggle after 30% wing collapse and violent reinflation, resulting in fatal spiral into terrain
πΊπΈEast Grand Forks, Minnesota, United States
PPG pilot flying low (50 feet) above houses and Red River collided with powerlines and dropped into the river. Pilot survived without injury.
Pilot experienced engine failure during flight, attempted 3 restarts before giving up and making emergency landing. Also had partial left wing collapse on takeoff, hit foot on parking area bar, and skimmed trees before gaining altitude. Landing damaged propeller guard and destroyed propellers.
During a recreational beach flight, pilot Daniel Williamson struck the leading edge of another pilot's (Azmat's) Apco glider while flying too close for fun. The collision damaged 4 sections of the leading edge of Daniel's own Apco Charisma 30m wing. No injuries occurred and paramotors were undamaged.
πΊπΈJackson, Michigan, United States
Instructor pilot crashed his paramotor after trying to drop a toy parachute soldier at low altitude (~30ft). He found his paramotor veering left, likely overcorrected to the right, and impacted the ground hard on his right side. Unknown if brakes became tangled in risers or if there was equipment malfunction.
π¬π§Dover, Kent, United Kingdom
Pilot experienced asymmetric collapse while fully accelerated at 1,600ft during competition task. Wing collapsed, rotated 3 times twisting risers, wing got chewed by propeller. Reserve successfully deployed at ~600ft. Pilot landed safely without injuries.
πΊπΈUnited States
Pilot suffered catastrophic collapse at full speed (trims out + speed bar) at low altitude due to wing deformation caused by undetected tension knot or line misrouting. Fell approximately 85-100 feet in 4 seconds and impacted ground at 48 mph.
πΊπΈMaricopa (near Murphy and La Barca Road), United States
Pilot using a paramotor device died after crashing near a Maricopa airport early Sunday morning
πΊπΈSan Antonio, Texas, United States
Pilot stalled the wing at approximately 70 feet AGL during cruise flight and could not recover. Resulted in parachute fall and minor injury. Pilot notes that altitude was critical factor - incident would have been recoverable at higher altitude.
