πΊπΈMojave Desert, between 29 Palms and Fenner, United States
During a cross-country paramotor flight in the Mojave Desert, the fuel tank loosened and shifted backward into the spinning propeller. The propeller shredded the tank, causing fuel loss, then catastrophically exploded mid-flight. The pilot successfully performed an emergency landing without power on a desert road and was rescued hours later.
πΊπΈUnited States
Pilot experienced a violent asymmetric wing collapse in gusty conditions near sunset. Pilot admitted fault for not checking updated forecast before flight. Successfully recovered using weight shift and brake inputs, landed safely in nearby field.
π¬π§Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom
A student undertaking a training flight on a paramotor trike at a non BHPA flying school became entangled in the upper branches of trees on the airfield periphery, and was attended to by the emergency services.
πΊπΈPerris, California, United States
Motorized paraglider collided with palm tree and became stuck approximately 50 feet up. Fire crews used aerial ladder truck to rescue pilot who was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
πΊπΈLa Verkin, Utah, United States
Paramotor pilot died after flying into high voltage powerlines when blinded by direct sunlight while turning to exit a canyon
πΊπΈPlainwell, Michigan, United States
Pilot aborted takeoff at 20ft AGL due to trajectory toward trees. Sudden power reduction caused wing surge, making flare ineffective. Hard landing without PLF resulted in ruptured patellar tendons in both knees.
πΊπΈHildale, Utah, United States
Pilot performing low wingovers with smoke when trimmer slipped open, causing crash into flatbed truck with major injuries requiring hospitalization
π¨π¦Lethbridge, Canada
Pilot encountered a gust front at the end of an extended flight prior to landing and was found unresponsive in a field north of the landing zone. Pronounced deceased at scene.
πΊπΈBrighton, Michigan, United States
Pilot encountered unexpected military Chinook helicopter during flight near high school football game. To avoid dangerous propwash from the helicopter, pilot descended and flew over populated residential area, potentially violating Part 103 regulations. No injuries or damage resulted.
πΊπΈOxford, Michigan, United States
Pilot flying low over lake hit power lines and crashed into water, escaped uninjured
πΊπΈFreeport, United States
Paramotor instructor Fabrizio Vittori, 50, was found deceased near his property after apparently crashing while flying. Authorities suspect a medical event may have occurred during flight. Body discovered by neighbor around 12:20 PM, actual incident time unknown but estimated between 9 AM scheduled lesson time and discovery.
πΊπΈBossier City, Louisiana, United States
Pilot was distracted during preflight checks by fellow pilot setting up nearby, leading to incomplete preflight inspection
πΊπΈPortsmouth, Ohio, United States
Experienced pilot performing wingover at low altitude lost grip of brake toggle after 30% wing collapse and violent reinflation, resulting in fatal spiral into terrain
πΊπΈJersey Shore, Pennsylvania, United States
During climb out at 40-50ft, a harness strap buckle broke and the loose end was caught by the propeller, causing vibration. Pilot performed a safe turnback and landing.
πΊπΈGunnison, Colorado (KGUC), United States
Swing arm attachment point (ACS system) broke during takeoff at approximately 10-15 feet AGL. Pilot felt a thud, tilted left, wing turned hard right. Pilot immediately reduced power and applied full brakes, landing safely with no injuries. The left swingarm was hanging from its backup strap. The internal swing arm 'puck' was found in the dirt.
